When I started publishing weekly blog posts and videos in January 2015, I thought I knew what I was getting into. I knew a ton about the technical side of WordPress, a ton about keyword research and a ton about creating content. But I didn’t know that almost my entire audience growth would take place on YouTube. Geeky Blog & YouTube Stuff
Sometimes I feel like going behind the scenes and blogging about what I do: YouTube tips, creating videos, and blogging. That is what you’ll find here on this page!

In 2017, I joined James Wedmore's “Business By Design” program, and while it is soooo informative, I think his BBD videos (launch videos) make it feel like you'll be rolling in a Tesla by next week. I want to give you a more “real life” example of what a “business by design” looks like (especially as a blogger), from someone who just recently joined the program. Because when James says so-and-so “generated $165,000 in less than two weeks” I kinda want to roll my eyes. (more…)
Since starting my blog and YouTube channel years ago, I have come to rely on a few specific strategies for developing video topic ideas out of thin air. I have a two-part process, and in this post (and podcast episode), I will break down the first part of that process: brainstorming video topic ideas. This is the start line for any blogger who is thinking about creating video content (or anyone who dive right in without brainstorming)! (more…)
Daily vlogging is all the rage. It's not a new concept, but more and more we see regular ordinary people like you and me uploading to YouTube daily. (more…)
Last week on my podcast, The VidPro Studio Show, I interviewed Amy Schmittauer from the Savvy Sexy Social YouTube channel. She just released her first book called Vlog Like A Boss (affiliate link) and I have an extra copy to give away!
I have done a really bad job of promoting The VidPro Studio Show podcast, which is my podcast where I pick the brains of bloggers, YouTubers, and other “viral stars” in pursuit of… well ya know what… I just really wanted to pick people's brains. Here's a little “behind the scenes of my podcast” at how it works, because it's completely different than making a video, honestly! (more…)
Have you wondered why I have weird circles in my eyes?! A few months ago, I finally invested in decent lighting! I bought the Diva Super Nova Ring Light, and I've partnered with DVeStore* to bring you my Diva Ring Light Setup and Review of my Super Nova! (more…)
I attended Tony Robbins' Unleash the Power Within (UPW) event in San Jose, California in November 2016. Lots of people have asked what my UPW takeaways were and it's hard to put them into words, or to even have a quick conversation about it.
The term “bullet journal” hit my ears for the first time just a few months ago, and I immediately binged on “Bullet Journal for Beginners” videos to see what all the fuss was about. Once I learned what Bullet Journaling was, I was instantly intrigued. I started right away with a Moleskine that I had laying around, and one week in, I was totally hooked. I'm an official BuJo convert now. Be sure to watch the video to see what I mean! 😉 Here are some of my thoughts after Bullet Journaling as a Beginner, after doing it for 3 months. (more…)
Hey ya know I'm not the only one on YouTube with GoPro Tutorials and How-To videos, right? There are some other fantastic channels that have fun videos and GoPro tutorials, and I think you'd like to check some of them out. (more…)
Although I had a few posts and pages back before 2015, this year was the year I hit my blog and YouTube channel hard. I posted a video and blog post at least once a week, every single week, for the entire year.
In celebration of my YouTube channel rolling over 1000 subscribers, I have devoted blog posts and videos to how to get your GoPro videos (or any kind of video) found and watched on YouTube. This is part two! And we're talking custom thumbnails, plus annotations (huh?) and YouTube cards (double huh?). (more…)
I recently rolled over the 1000 subscriber mark on YouTube! Whoooop! I'm pretty excited about it since I just started my channel this year.
So I thought I'd put together a few posts that deal specifically with YouTube. When you have your GoPro videos edited (in GoPro Studio perhaps?) and ready to upload, you want to make sure your videos get found and watched! Right?
