New GoPro App for Desktop

Also known as “Where did GoPro Studio go?” Last week, GoPro released a new piece of software called “GoPro App for Desktop”. It's a lot like the GoPro app for iPhone and Android, but it's for your desktop–PC or Mac.

It's kinda handy, but there are some bugs to work out. One being that GoPro Studio is now hard to find and many folks have written to me and asked where in the HAIL it went.

Here is my first experience with using the new app from beginning to end, including some of my thoughts on the user interface and possible confusion points.

Click here to go to the download page for this new app. It's totally free!

I can see the potential for GoPro App for Desktop in the future but there are a lot of kinks to work out I think. Personally, I don't want to organize my GoPro files within an app like this. It minds me of iMovie (and I don't like iMovie!). But for brand new GoPro users who are completely new to the video capture and video editing process, I can see how it will be handy to keep everyone within a “GoPro ecosystem”, so to speak.

Once you check it out, leave a comment below and let me know what you think about it!

  1. The one thing I wish GP would add to this is the ability to use “KEY WORDS” for retrieval purposes in any file system. Well, that also goes for any file system.

    • On my android table this app imports all my photo…..GoPro or not.
On my computer it only imports GoPro images. Is this as it should be?

      • Yes, I think that is correct.
