4 Ways to Monetize YouTube Videos through YPP

There are multiple ways to monetize your YouTube channel through YouTube’s Partner Program. However, the 4 most common avenues of monetization are ad revenue, YouTube Premium, Channel Memberships, and Super Chat.

Ad Revenue

There are several types of ads that may appear during or next to your videos when you’ve turned on video monetization. They might be pre-roll ads, banners, or in the middle of your videos.

Skippable video ads may appear on computers, mobile devices, TV, and game consoles. These ads can be skipped by the viewer after 5 seconds.

Non-skippable video ads must be watched to completion before your video will be viewed. These also appear on computers, mobile devices, TV, and game consoles. They can be 15 or 20 seconds in length.

Bumper ads are short, non-skippable video ads of up to 6-seconds that must be watched before a view can be viewed.

Overlay ads, or banners, are image or text ads that can appear in the lower portion of your video. These will only appear on computers.

If your video is longer than 8-minutes, you can place mid-roll ad breaks in your content as well.

YouTube Premium

If your viewers are YouTube Premium subscribers, they will not see ads on your content. That is, after all, one of the luxuries of being a YouTube Premium customer. For you, the content creator, you won’t get a cut of any ad revenue since there is none. Instead, you will get a portion of the YouTube Premium fee.

Channel Memberships

Channel memberships are a great way to give your channel an edge in the competitive world of social media. They offer viewers monthly payments and exclusive perks like badges, emojis, or even other goods! Any benefits you may offer in your channel membership are subject to YouTube’s membership policies and guidelines.

While you can offer benefits that make your members feel part of your community, be sure they follow YouTube’s policies.

Super Chat and Super Stickers

It’s no surprise that live chat has become an integral part of the entertainment industry. The way we connect with our favorite creators is through Super Chat and Super Stickers! Your viewers can purchase Super Chat to highlight their message within live chat during your live stream.

YouTube Shorts Fund

Yes, YouTube now has a Shorts Fund!! The YouTube Shorts Fund will reward content creators for their contribution of original Shorts content. YouTube will reach out to thousands of creators each month to let them know if they qualify for a bonus from the Shorts fund. You must be between 13-18 years old and upload at least one Short in the last 180 days for eligibility.
