How To Find Endless Video Content Ideas (That Grow Your Channel) | Ep. 19
If you’re looking to find video content ideas for YouTube growth, you should stay away from AI and dig into the 3 methods I cover in this video. That way, not only will you never run out of YouTube video ideas, but you’ll also attract your ideal viewers, leads, and customers along the way!
I’m just gonna say it: AI is the worst way to come up with content ideas for your YouTube channel… if you actually want your channel to grow. I’m not saying that it can’t be helpful, but chatGPT and others don’t generate their ideas off of any kind of proven strategy… they’re just making 💩 up.
If anyone can do it – even a robot – how could you possibly expect unique, binge-worthy video ideas for your channel? (You can’t, but there’s a better way)

The AI Trap: Why It’s Not Your Best Content Idea Generator
Let’s face it: AI tools like ChatGPT are fascinating and can be incredibly useful for many tasks. However, when it comes to generating content ideas for your YouTube channel, they fall short in a crucial way. Here’s why:
- AI lacks strategic insight into YouTube’s algorithm
- It doesn’t understand your specific audience and niche
- AI-generated ideas may not align with your long-term growth goals
While AI might spit out seemingly good ideas, it doesn’t have the nuanced understanding of what makes content truly successful on YouTube. To grow your channel consistently and generate revenue, you need ideas that capitalize on YouTube’s algorithm and resonate with your audience.
The Good, Better, and Best Ways to Generate Video Ideas
Good: Keyword Research
A solid starting point for content ideation is good old-fashioned keyword research. Tools like vidIQ can help you uncover related keywords and assess their potential based on search volume and competition. This method gives you a data-driven approach to topic selection.
Better: Channel Analytics
Take a deep dive into your own channel’s analytics. Look at:
- Which videos are currently getting the most views, comments, and likes
- Topics that are bringing new subscribers to your channel
- Videos driving lead generation and email sign-ups
This internal data is gold for understanding what your audience wants and what the algorithm is favoring for your channel.
I talked about this quite a bit in Episode number 17 which is all about YouTube growth hacks that aren’t really hacks. They are legitimate strategies for channels that are under 1,000 subscribers.
Best: Direct from Your Audience
The absolute best source of content ideas? Your clients, customers, and audience themselves. Pay attention to:
- Problems they’re coming to you with
- Mistakes you see them making repeatedly
- Questions they ask over and over
These real-world insights are invaluable for creating content that truly resonates and solves problems.
Leveraging AI for Content Idea Extraction
While I don’t recommend using AI to generate ideas from scratch, it can be a powerful tool for analyzing conversations with your audience. Here’s a prompt I’ve developed that you can use with AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity:
Analyze the following Zoom call transcript and extract:
1. Questions asked by the client, especially those not fully addressed
2. Questions asked by the client that were addressed, including an outline of the discussion
3. Problems or challenges mentioned by the client
4. Unique ideas or strategies that were discussed
5. Common pain points related to video creation or YouTube marketing
6. Topics that could benefit a wider audience beyond this specific client
Please provide a simple bulleted list of these extracted elements without any additional commentary or suggestions for video creation.
This approach helps you mine your client interactions for content gold without relying on AI for the actual ideation.
Making Your Ideas Endless: The Power of Multiple Videos on the Same Topic
Here’s a secret that many content creators overlook: you don’t need a brand new topic for every single video. In fact, creating multiple videos around the same topic can be incredibly powerful for your channel growth. Why? Because it aligns perfectly with how YouTube’s algorithm works. If a video on a particular topic is bringing viewers to your channel, that’s a clear signal that your audience wants more content in that area. By creating additional videos on the same or related topics, you’re giving both your audience and the algorithm exactly what they want.
The 3×4 Method: Expanding Your Content Ideas
To turn a single topic into multiple video ideas, try the 3×4 method. Here’s a quick example:Topic: How to use a DSLR camera
- 5 essential DSLR settings for beginners
- Common DSLR mistakes to avoid
- DSLR vs. Mirrorless: Which is right for you?
- How to clean your DSLR sensor safely
By approaching the same topic from different angles, you create a wealth of content that serves your audience while capitalizing on YouTube’s algorithm.
Tying It All Together: Creating a YouTube Funnel
As you generate these content ideas, don’t forget to consider how they tie into your broader business goals. Look for opportunities to create videos that naturally lead to your:
- Lead magnets
- Courses
- Digital products
- Coaching services
By strategically aligning your content with your offerings, you can create a “Set-it-and-forget YouTube funnel” that generates leads and sales on autopilot.
In Episode number 1 of this podcast I broke down exactly what my YouTube funnel system looks like, how it works for me, how you can implement it on your own channel with your own offers, so that you can not only build your audience but also generate revenue with the content you create with your own products generating leads and generating revenue on your channel.
Conclusion: Your Roadmap to YouTube Success
Generating content ideas for YouTube doesn’t have to be a struggle. By focusing on keyword research, channel analytics, and direct audience feedback, you can create an endless stream of video topics that will grow your channel and your business. Remember, the key is to create multiple videos around successful topics, always keeping your audience’s needs and your business goals in mind.Ready to take your YouTube channel to the next level?
