The Power of YouTube Lead Generation

YouTube lead generation is often overlooked but incredibly important component of any online business. When you create valuable content on platforms like YouTube, you have the opportunity to turn those viewers into email subscribers, which opens up a direct line of communication with your audience.

Email marketing allows you to nurture those leads, promote your products and services, and more revenue for your business. However, many creators make the mistake of not having a clear lead generation strategy in place, leaving a huge opportunity on the table.

The “Save Me” Series Approach

One of my favorite strategies for generating leads with YouTube is what I call the “Save Me” series. The concept is simple:

  1. Create a series of videos on a particular topic or pain point that your audience cares about. This could be a 30 Days of GoPro series, a Crush It on Camera series, or any other multi-part tutorial.
  2. Anchor the series with a valuable freebie or lead magnet. In the first video of the series, offer your viewers a cheat sheet, checklist, or other downloadable resource in exchange for their email address.
  3. Promote the freebie and series throughout the other videos. Each subsequent video in the series should drive viewers back to the first video to access the lead magnet.

This approach accomplishes a few key things:

  1. It provides your audience with immense value through the video series.
  2. It allows you to grow your email list by offering a compelling freebie.
  3. It creates a natural “funnel” that keeps viewers engaged and moving through your content.

Effortless Lead Generation

Once you’ve created the initial video series and lead magnet, the lead generation process can become largely effortless. Here’s how:

  1. Use keyword research to identify high-demand topics. Look at your niche and what people are searching for, just like I did with the 30 Days of GoPro series. This ensures your content is highly relevant and valuable.
  2. Optimize your videos for the YouTube algorithm. Craft compelling titles, descriptions, and thumbnails to make your videos easy for your target audience to discover.
  3. Promote your “Save Me” series everywhere. Whenever someone asks you a question related to the series, you can simply send them the link to the first video and lead magnet.
  4. Leverage your new videos to drive traffic to the series. Any time you publish a new video, you can use it to cross-promote the “Save Me” series and grow your email list.

The key is that you only have to create the series and lead magnet once. After that, your content can continue generating leads for you on autopilot, 24/7.

Getting Started

If you don’t have an email service provider yet, I highly recommend ConvertKit. Their free plan allows you to set up to 10,000 email subscribers and an automated sequence. It’s everything you need to start building your email list with your YouTube content.

And if you want more details on how I have my ConvertKit account set up, let me know in the comments and I’ll consider making a video about it.

Bottom Line

If your goal is to build a real business with YouTube, not just a channel, then lead generation needs to be a core part of your strategy. By creating a “Save Me” series, you can turn your valuable video content into a powerful lead-generation machine.

I created what I call the “Crush It on Camera” series on my channel and I was actually going to make this a course and I decided that this would be better off as a lead generation and a viewer generation series for my channel.

If you ever want to create a “Set-it-and-Forget-it YouTube funnel, you’ll need to have an email list to begin with. Bringing in effortless leads to a funnel, even a simple basic funnel to start with, and then a “Set-it-and-Forget-it” funnel that generates revenue for you on autopilot, is the way to build the business, not just the YouTube channel.

If you want to learn more about how my funnel works and how you can implement it on your channel, Episode One of the Video Brand Infusion podcast is where I gave all the details and broke down everything so that you can figure out how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. That’s the start of a simple, easy, effortless, basic YouTube funnel.
