After I made this original post, Rode reached out and sent me a fresh Streamer X to give it another shot. Did it redeem itself? Let’s find out. And in case I didn’t make it totally clear before, I bought the first Streamer X with my own money and returned it for a full refund from Amazon, and Rode sent me a new one free of charge.

Defaulting to the Microphone Setting

One of the things I was previously annoyed about with the Rode Streamer X, which I actually forgot to mention in my last post, was that it defaulted to headset mode upon startup. Thankfully, this time around, it seemed to have sorted itself out, choosing the regular microphone setting.

Audio Quality

Connecting my Canon M50 Mark II and my Shure SM7dB microphone, the audio clarity felt much better than before. It still has that static type of noise coming through, but not nearly as bad as before and is tolerable.

Connection Problems

One of my major complaints in my initial review was when my computer would go to sleep or restart then turn back on, it didn’t recognize the Streamer X. I’d have to figure out why it wasn’t showing up, and would end up having to unplug it and plug it in again. However, this time around, whether my computer slept or restarted, it still stayed connected.

Final Verdict: Redemption Achieved

After putting the Rode Streamer X through its paces, I can confidently say that Rode has either fixed the glitches or sent me a device that did not have any of the little problems. So thank you, Rode, for vindicating yourself and providing content creators with a more reliable tool to up their audio game.
